A Guide to Permanent Weight Loss

One of the more frustrating aspects of weight loss diets is the great chance of weight return and perhaps a few more pounds on top after stopping the diet program.

Most people think a diet that can work for their body type has to be as complicated to figure out as rocket science. It truly is not that difficult, but with the many choices and types of diets out there, it's no wonder that most people fail to get the results they are looking for.

When you look at the different weight loss diets, there are many programs and combinations of programs to choose from. The three main nutrients, proteins, fats and carbohydrates can be broken down to different ratios for total daily calorie intake. For example, you can have high, medium, low and zero calorie amounts of fats, proteins or carbohydrates. The calorie ratios of each nutrient set against the others are numerous. This is where a diet “guru” can come up with his or her own program, advertise it as the best and further confuse the general public with yet another choice.

It doesn't have to be this way if we look at the real key to this diet program conundrum. There are some general guidelines to follow when you are shopping for a weight loss diet that will allow you to decide if a particular one is right for you. These guidelines can be found in virtually every diet manual.

The aim here isn't an explanation of what diet you should actually follow, but to give you a logical approach as to how to succeed with whatever program you decide to do. Apply some common sense to a nutritional plan and you will make your weight loss permanent and lifelong.

If we can understand why diets fail in the long term, then we can try to prevent it from failing over and over again. Basically, weight loss goals for most people don't succeed because of the lack of long-term commitment. Most people already know that they need to expend more calories than they are taking in. No real rocket science here. Unfortunately most are not willing to do what it takes to achieve this calories deficient ratio for longer than a few months or less.

Generally all diets work. It can be high fat, low fat, high carbohydrates and the many combinations of fad diets we see so often. In the short term, by burning more calories than you consume there will be some weight loss, but we need to find the real key that will give us permanent weight loss.

Recent studies have shown that when the popular commercial diets were compared to each other over a 6-month to one-year span of time, they generally had the same weight loss results. The conclusion of one major study sited that the adherence level rather than the diet itself was the primary predictor of whether the weight loss program would work.

The bottom line is that even though some diets are healthier than others, or suppress the appetite better, virtually all diets work the same in the short term. What is clear is adhering to the diet becomes the most important thing when looking at weight loss for the long term.

Lifestyle alteration is the basis here and any thoughts of having permanent weight loss need to be addressed as life long management in order to succeed.

Although most people are looking for the magic bullet to end their weight loss woes, there hasn’t been any real advancement in trying to lose weight without drugs or surgery. People for hundreds of years have known about cutting calories as the method for getting leaner. So the guide to permanent weight loss is to reduce your calories and do your diet program for the long term. That is the real secret. Save your money looking for the next best thing and do what has been proven to work for every one throughout the ages.

A Natural Weight Loss Program - Advantages of Regular Exercise

When you are trying for results with a natural weight loss program, exercise in conjunction with the dietary aspects will increase your chances of successfully reaching your weight goals.

Some people who are beginning a natural weight loss program do not realize the benefits that can be gained by making regular exercise a form of weight loss. Taking advantage of these benefits means that you don't have to strain so hard in other aspects of your weight loss program. The exercise doesn't even have to be strenuous or difficult to the point of painful, just consistent. For example, if you spend twenty minutes on a brisk walk three to four times per week, you will gain tremendous benefits in your weight control efforts. Other forms of exercise, including those that are aerobic are equally helpful in controlling your weight.

Firms and Tones the Muscles

Natural weight loss is a great way to manage your weight and regular exercise aimed at firming and toning all the major muscles of the body is even more helpful to you. Choose your exercises with the intent of beginning gradually at a comfortable level for your existing abilities and increase the difficulty and duration gradually to gain maximum benefit. By working the major muscle group, you replace the fat cells that are being eliminated from your body with healthy muscle cells.

Burns Calories

Exercise done in conjunction with a well thought out natural weight loss program will burn calories. Each calorie that is burned from a fat cell is an opportunity to get rid of those cells forever. If you have doubts about the effectiveness of exercise in losing weight, simply look at a chart of calories burned through various day to day activities. Even some types of exercises that can be done while sitting at a desk are effective ways to help you on the path to weight control. If you have time to swim regularly, that is a great exercise since swimming a few laps raises your heart rate and helps to improve your lung function. Even perspiring uses calories to accomplish.

Resets The Metabolism

A natural weight loss program combined with regular exercise will actually help you to crank up your metabolism rate so that the food you eat will be processed more effectively. Instead of excess calories being converted into fat, they are burned up in your body's individual furnaces - the cells. It's as if you turned the thermostat of your internal furnace up a degree or two so that the fuel burns hotter and more completely.

Taking Drastic Measures to Lose Weight
by Michael Casals

It has become a sort of dilemma for most weight watchers to try different types of lose weight programs only to find themselves unsuccessful at every try. This has brought others to try more drastic measures to tackle their weight issues. Many individuals each year elect to have weight loss surgery. These types of surgery have given new life to those who previously found themselves trying all the different diet fads in the market.

Despite the success of weight loss surgery there are disadvantages to take into consideration. It pays to make informed decisions before jumping into extraordinary weight loss measures.

The most common procedure today involves making the individual's stomach capacity smaller. When it takes someone much faster to feel the fullness of their stomach then their food intake is drastically lessened. The result is loss of weight due to smaller food intake and the effects are quick.

The benefits can be enormous. Troubles with high blood pressure and sugar levels are reduced. Exhaustion due to high body mass is also lessened. The main benefit would be a more secure sense of well being which could result to greater opportunities for social interaction.

Despite the benefits an individual still has to take into account that because of lower food intake one has to make sure that daily nutritional intake remains balanced. Like any other surgery, sufficient time is also needed for the body to recuperate and to adjust itself to it's new condition. Other symptoms could include nausea and vomiting.

Medical tests are required to ascertain if surgery is possible for an individual. Surgery could have serious consequences if sufficient analysis has not been performed.

Individual lifestyle is also taken into account. If a person has not reacted favorably to weight loss programs the underlying reasons has to be analyzed. The mental health of the individual also needs to be tested. Does the patient have the mental agility and strength to meet worst outcomes?

It pays to attend seminars and to talk to other people who have undergone a similar surgery. Other weight loss centers actually ask patients to be involved in a weight loss program prior to be eligible for surgery. These are meant to allow you to be more at ease with what is to come.

While surgery provides a quick fix it is best to find out if such is the best option. A lengthy and open discussion with your doctor is always the best road to take when considering weight loss surgery.

Discussing HCG Weight Loss and Its Value

by Steve Searls

In recent times, aspiring weight losers as well as some medical experts have been spending more time discussing HCG weight loss. Scientifically HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin, which is a naturally produced hormone that is commonly found in the bodies of pregnant women during the early pregnancy stages.

When a small amount of HCG is combined with a low calorie diet, it can cause a person’s body to metabolize which some say is ideal for anyone who seriously wants to lose weight. As a result of this process, HCG will also cause the body to use abnormal fat, process it and then reset the hypothalamus.

Theoretically, a person who diets and uses HCG will be able to go back to her normal consumption and, as long as the person sticks to healthy limits (no post-diet overeating), she will be able to keep the weight off for some time. It is reported that if a dieter precisely follows the HCG diet procedure, he or she can lose an average of one to two and a half pounds per day.

The scientific process of HCG weight loss goes like this – a tiny amount of HCG is sufficient to disconnect mobile fat from the person’s body, burn it and then discharge the excess fat through the kidneys. At the same time, the fatty acids separate from the fat cells which is the result of HCG’s ability to open fat cell membranes.

While weight loss is often perceived to have a weakening process on the human body, the HCG diet does not compromise strength and there are those who practiced it that claimed to remain energetic. Because of this, some people who are conscious over their weight find the HCG diet ideal for their needs.

The man behind the creation and formulation of the HCG diet is Dr. A.T.W. Simeons. Thanks to his work, HCG is the only weight loss procedure that specifically allows a person to get rid of unwanted fat while still retaining the normal fat, as well as having lean body mass. Thousands around the world who practiced the HCG diet are able to enjoy consuming good food without worrying about weight gain or fat buildup.

More historical details of the HCG weight loss program can be found in Dr. Simeons’ book entitled Pounds and Inches, which is currently available in major online book sellers as well as bookstores around the nation.

Use A Diet Club to Market Your Weight Loss Product

It seems that, everywhere you look, everyone is trying to lose weight. If you are in a network marketing company that has a weight loss product line, you have a huge, hot, and hungry market that you can sell to.

One of the easiest marketing strategies that you can implement is starting a diet club in your town. Here are tips to get your diet club started off right.

1. Host a diet club in your home. If you cannot do it, one of your friends, family members, or colleagues may be willing to be the host, especially when you offer them free samples of your network marketing's company's weight loss product.

2. The host will need to invite six or more people to your diet club. The invitations can look something like this:

"Your Dieting Days are Over!"

The problem with diets is that, whenever you go on a diet, eventually you have to get off the diet. What usually happens? The weight returns.

*Drink a shake. Lose weight! Eat a cookie. Lose weight! Try these and other fun and easy ways to lose weight!

*Never be hungry! (that's better than willpower!)

*Enjoy great tasting cookies between meals!

*Lose weight and keep it off!

Come to our diet club kick off! Meet new friends, bring your favorite dish and recipe, and lose weight while snacking with us!

Fun! Healthy! Plus it all tastes so good!

3. Purchase a scale so that you will have one for the official "weigh-in".

4. Plan to have your diet club meet on the same day and time every week. Every member will need to weigh in each week. The member who loses the most weight will get to keep the special "Weight Loss Trophy" for the week. You will need to remind them to bring it back for the next group meeting's winner. When you do it like this, you will only need to purchase one trophy.

5. The member that loses the least amount of weight or gains the most gets a booby prize. This can be anything, such as an embarrassing poster they have to put on their refrigerator for the week. Get creative! Whoever gets the booby prize will need to bring it back to the next meeting so that the new winner can receive it.

6. After the weigh-in, trophy, and booby prize awards, give your diet club members a tip or two about proper eating and dieting. Share with them how your weight loss product can help them meet their goals.

7. Lastly, socialize! Share recipes, give out cookies, shakes, or whatever weight loss product your network marketing company promotes. Dig into the delicious dishes that members bring. Overall, just enjoy the fellowship and then repeat next week!

That's it! This is all it takes to start your own diet club in your hometown. Your members will appreciate your efforts, and it's highly likely you will get lots of orders for your weight loss products! So, get going with your first diet club today!

What Is Wrong With Fad Diets

If you do a fad diet and it helps you lose weight fast and get results, what can be wrong with that?

Surley you have seen many ads on the internet and in magazines that say that you can get a huge weight loss in only a few days time.

Is this type of weight loss really possible? Yes - but... in almost every instance the weight loss from a fad diet is temporary and usually due to loss of water weight. Our bodies are made up of a large percentage of water so as soon as your body rehydrates itself you will put that quick weight loss right back on.

What are some of the reasons a fad diet is not good for you?

1. A fad diet usually tells you to focus on a single food type and avoid all others. This means you miss out on the nutrition you really need and can get from a more balanced diet approach.

Quite often these fad diets will even tell you to take vitamins and supplements to make up for all the nutritional deficiencies you experience while on that fad diet. However, your body will not be able to absorb the nutrients from the recommended supplements unless you take them with food. And many of the foods that help you absorb nutrients are banned on fad diets.

2. Fad diets are usually so restrictive and unappetizing that after as little as one day you will begin having overwhelming cravings for other foods and most likely you will not be able to complete the fad diet. This quitting will also wreak havoc on your self esteem as you may beat yourself up for not having enough willpower to stick it out with the diet.

3. Fad diets are temporary solutions to your weight problems. Even if you do follow through to the end with a fad diet you have not made permanent healthy changes to the way you handle food in your life. So fad dieters tend to be yo-yo dieters that go back and forth between extreme lo-calorie fad diets to periods of bingeing on food groups that were missing from the fad diet. So fad dieters are on a roller coaster of gaining and losing the same darn pounds again and again.

No matter what you see in the media about quick weight loss fad diets, realize that these diets will never work long term.

The best way to lose weight and sustain that weight loss (so you never have to diet again) is to eat a variety of healthy foods, avoid overeating, and do regular exercise. This simple formula works every time.

Craving Busters: How to Control Hunger
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ray_L_Johnson]Ray L Johnson

So many of us start out on a diet with the best intentions. We say to ourselves, "This time I will be disciplined and committed." On days one, two and even three we have a firm resolve but soon enough, hunger strikes and overwhelms and we find ourselves caving to temptation. It seems that being able to combat hunger is the indicator of whether a person is successful in their goal of losing weight and being more healthy and fortunately, there are products such as green coffee as well as behaviours and lifestyle tips that can help an individual not to give in to hunger.
So, what are some of the ways that hunger can be controlled despite a reduced intake of calories?
Fill up on vegetables:
Fibre is essential in most people's diet and consuming foods that are high in fibre helps to bulk up the diet. This means that the transport of food through your system is slowed.
The other good thing about fibre-rich foods is that they are low in calories, enabling you to eat a lot of them without clocking up surplus calories. This is great news as the main goal of any diet plan and the results achieved depend on reduced consumption of calories.
Move more:
Contrary to popular belief, moderate exercise can help to suppress your appetite rather than increase it. Having said this, care must be taken as excessive exercise done at an intense level can stimulate your appetite in the long term.
Moderate exercise is ideal as it encourages circulation and stops the body from feeling ravenous. A good tip is to counteract the feeling of needing a snack with going for a walk...this should curb the hunger and increase energy levels.
Fat is not the enemy:
For many people, dieting means avoiding fat at all costs. Although fat is higher in calories than protein and carbohydrates, foods that contain fat are the most effective in reducing hunger and will have a lasting effect - you may not immediately feel satisfied after eating foods with fat, but you are likely to feel less hungry later.
In most diets, long term strategies to reduce hunger make the difference between success and failure.
Consume hot drinks:
Drinking hot drinks, such as green coffee, green coffee 800, standard coffee or tea is a tried and true way to reduce hunger cravings. Also, caffeine (as is found in standard coffee and tea) may not necessarily be healthy, but it can help to give you more energy and thereby make dieting easier.
However, as the aim of a diet is to reduce calories, you should be careful not to indulge in high calorie, sugar-laden beverages that are, effectively, like eating a dessert! Instead, opt for something healthier and more satisfying, such as green coffee.
Hydrate yourself:
Many people can testify to grabbing something to eat as soon as they feel 'hungry'. However, thirst is often mistaken for hunger. It is important to drink at least two litres of water each day and even more than this if you also consume a lot of caffeine or salt through your diet.
When you are adequately hydrated, energy levels correspondingly increase, concentration and memory are improved and you are likely to feel less ravenous.
A little bit of fruit:
Fructose, a type of sugar that is processed by the liver, is a significant component of any fruit. When eating a meal that is moderate to high in protein or fat, a small piece of fruit can help to keep hunger at bay. This is because liver stores will not fall so low that you feel incredibly hungry.
However, you should be careful not to eat fruit on its own too often. Doing so increases blood sugar levels which will inevitably then drop, leaving you feeling hungry and irritable.
Limit carbohydrate intake:
It is commonly seen that those on a low carbohydrate diet have less of an appetite than those a low fat diet. Sufficient fat in the diet can help to reduce hunger in the longer term and protein rich foods are generally more filling than carbohydrate rich foods.
Increase protein consumption:
High protein foods and therefore high protein diets are known to be more filling than their carbohydrate rich counterparts. Added to this, digestion of high protein foods forces the body to burn more calories and give you a reduced calorie intake.
Lean sources of protein, such as: chicken breasts, fish, turkey and egg whites are excellent sources of protein that can be easily incorporated into many diets.
