Obeseity vs Overweight

One of the signs that you may need to lose weight is if you are obese. Many people do not realize that there is a difference in being overweight and being obese. If you are diagnosed as being obese you should be greatly concerned for your health. Obesity has been linked to many health related issues.

Another one of the signs that you need to lose weight is if you have been told to do so by friends or family members. Unfortunately many individuals are embarrassed or become upset when they are told that they need to lose weight. What you need to remember is that the individual mentioning your weight to you likely is not as concerned with your appearance as they are with your health.

Rapid Weight Loss

Their are many ways to go about achieving a rapid weight loss program. One way is to reduce the food that you eat, it is important that you only reduce your food intake a little bit.

Many individuals believe that if they stop food intake all together, sometimes for days at a time they will lose weight. That is something you do not want to do. Once you resume eating again, you will likely gain all of your weight back. The body needs fuel to burn fat, so limiting the food intake is not a good idea. It is also important to mention that starving yourself is dangerous to your health.

What You Should Know About Most Diet Programs

An alarming number of Americans were considered overweight or obese in 1999. Obesity continues to be a major problem and is expected to reach epidemic levels by the year 2020.

One of the methods to correct this problem is to make people aware of the risks of being overweight or obese through education. Here are some of the diseases that a person who carries a lot of extra pounds may be in danger of.
1. heart disease
2. stroke
3. diabetes
4. cancer
5. arthritis
6. hypertension.

The quick loss methods do not work or just do not have long lasting results. Cutting out meals is not the way to go, a healthy sensible diet three times a day is the way to go. The key to a healthy diet is do not starve yourself. You may seem happy and feel that you are losing those unwanted flabs on your belly and thighs by skipping meals. But remember that this will not last long. Your body cannot handle having insufficient food to fuel the energy that you use up everyday.
